Island Hospital Medical Arts Building

Today I was lucky enough to take a tour of the beautiful new Medical Arts Building that is under construction at Island Hospital. The building will house the new Physical Therapy Clinic as well as the Cancer Care Center. Patients and staff will be treated to awesome views of Fidalgo Bay and state of the art equipment and facilities. There will be a public open house sometime in January – don’t miss it!

The services offered at this and other new and planned medical facilities in town are one more reason why Anacortes is a great place to work and retire! If you know someone who is contemplating a move here, please have them call me for a guided tour of homes!

Holiday Doings in Anacortes!

Friday, December 2, is the big holiday kick-off night in Anacortes! Here are some things to do…
– Check out the Island Hospital Foundation Celebration of Trees at the Port Warehouse at the end of Commercial. Complete with Gingerbread wars, musical entertainment, a great assortment of decorated trees – from wacky to wonderful – that will be auctioned on Saturday night, and get a complimentary cup of cocoa from the Windermere booth!
– Chamber of Commerce Annual Tree Lighting takes place on Friday night outside the Chamber offices. Special appearances by local school groups and, of course, the bearded one himself (Santa… that’s who I was thinking of..) as well as lots of your friends and neighbors!
– Art Walk happens Friday as well, so after you check out the trees trees trees everywhere, take a stroll downtown and see some of the fantastic local art on display in galleries and businesses all along Commercial. Many downtown businesses will be open late for this event – don’t miss it – its the best Art Walk of the year IMHO.

Anacortes Real Estate Statistics

If you are reading this blog entry, you’ve probably already found the stats link on this website… but just in case you missed it – it’s in the menu bar at the top of the page. There are two stats reports that will be updated about every 30 days or so.

The first link are some graphs and charts with year-over-year and other historical sales data so that you can see where we’ve been and where we might be headed.

The second is a report I run that shows every peice of property in detail that has been listed and sold in the Northwest MLS for the Anacortes/Fidalgo/Guemes Island areas. This report generally covers 30 days of sales and does not include any “For Sale By Owner” properites. When you view this report, you can view each property in detail, including the photo galleries, original list price, days on market, etc.

If there is anything that you think would be useful to you stats-wise on an ongoing basis, please let me know and I will try and add a link. The most successful buyers and sellers are the educated buyers and sellers.

Hey! It’s a great time to buy in Anacortes!

So.. you’ve been contemplating a second home here? Maybe you are a first time homebuyer? Ready to downsize or upsize or go for the view you’ve always wanted? Whatever your real estate objectives, it’s a great time to buy in Anacortes and I’m not just sayin’ that!

Consider this… inventory is getting lower, pendings are truly up – this could signal the bottom folks! It’s been a long, hard road down the hill, and after a 30% average drop in market value since the beginning of the “crash”, it’s nice to finally see some improvement in the market. Will prices go up to pre-crash levels? Not anytime soon in my opinion, but the lower inventory and higher pendings mean that buyers are starting to buy again, and that increases demand and that, my friends, means prices may begin to rise.

Let’s go househunting! There are some great investor buys and some really great new construction opportunities in town.

Are you concerned about financing a new or second home? Call me and I’ll fill you in on what I know about some really creative loan packages that are starting to crop up. Even the banks are getting tired of not making money and are starting to be a little more interested in writing loans. Time to take advantage of that!
